The other day, we bought a new book for the kids, Birds of the Willamette Valley. Ava has been crazy studying the book, so this morning we went to Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge (conveniently located in our neighborhood) to locate and identify birds. Jack was on board and excited for the hike. We encountered a man who was very knowledgeable about the birds in Oaks Bottom. He helped us identify a few birds with which we were having difficulty. He wore a hat that labeled him, BIRD NERD.
